The hike from YC to Ousel Falls Trailhead is a beautiful point-to-point route that winds through forested terrain. Starting from YC, the trail gradually descends toward Big Sky, connecting into the Town Center trail system before arriving at the Ousel Falls trailhead. This is a great kickoff hike for our summer season with a mix of rolling terrain and scenic overlooks along the way.

Golden Trout Lake is a classic high-alpine Summit with Ciara adventure, climbing steadily through pine forest and open meadows before reaching a quiet mountain lake tucked beneath rugged peaks. The trail offers incredible wildflower viewing in summer, opportunities to spot wildlife, and expansive views back toward the Spanish Peaks and Lone Mountain as you gain elevation. The lake itself is a peaceful spot for a quick cold plunge before heading back down.

The hike to Ramshorn Lake is a scenic alpine route that climbs through evergreen forest and open ridgelines before reaching a quite mountain lake surrounded by rugged peaks. Along the way, hikers are treated to sweeping views of Spanish Peaks, wildflower-filled meadows in midsummer, and opportunities to spot moose, deer, and other wildlife.

Join YCCF for a guided tour of local nonprofit partners and community initiatives, including Wellness in Action, the Big Sky Community Park, and the Arts Council of Big Sky, where we'll close out our day with a cocktail hour and conversation. The Yellow Mule Trail is a scenic YC hike that winds through rolling mountain terrain, open ski runs, and pockets of evergreen forest with expansive views of Lone Peak and the surrounding Madison Range. The trail offers a great mix of gradual climbing and mellow traverses.
Following the hike, we’ll enjoy an après hike at the Clubhouse to celebrate our excursion!

Back by popular demand! The Sphinx and Helmet Saddle hike is one of those classic Madison Range adventures that’s challenging in all the right ways and absolutely worth the effort. The trail climbs through wildflower-filled meadows and rugged alpine terrain before reaching the saddle between Sphinx Mountain and Helmet Mountain, with sweeping views of the Madison Valley and surrounding peaks the entire way.
Following our hike, we’ll head to Sportsman’s in Ennis for a well-earned lunch hosted by Brian and Janice Sprague!

Cedar Loop is a favorite Yellowstone Club hike that combines beautiful, forested trails, rolling mountain terrain, and incredible views along the way. The route winds through towering evergreens and open meadows.
Bonus! Halfway through the hike, we’ll stop at Cedar Camp for lunch, generously provided by our amazing Food & Beverage team before continuing the hike back to the trailhead.

This point-to-point hike follows the Gallatin Range through shaded forest, open meadows, and peaceful creekside terrain. This hike kicks off with a steady uphill climb of about 600ft, transitions into a short but fairly steep section of descending switchbacks, and ends with a long and gentle downhill stretch.
We’ll celebrate this hike with lunch and cold refreshments at Lone Mountain Ranch before getting a shuttle back to YC.
Difficulty: Intermediate
No dogs allowed at LMR. If you want to bring your four legged friends, please plan on driving yourself to LMR and jumping on the shuttle from there. Dogs will need to stay in vehicles while we are in the Saloon.

Rock Creek Lake Trail at Crazy Mountain Ranch is a breathtaking alpine hike that winds through wildflower-filled meadows, evergreen forest, and alongside crystal-clear mountain streams before reaching the stunning turquoise waters of Rock Creek Lake. Surrounded by the dramatic peaks of the Crazy Mountains, this trail feels remote, peaceful, and incredibly scenic from start to finish.

This next hike is a big one – we’re celebrating Ciara’s birthday with champagne and summit views at Kircliff on top of Lone Peak! For those feeling ready to take on Lone Peak, we’ll have an early group departing from the bottom of Swift Current Lift, hiking up Bonecrusher and continuing all the way to the summit for one of the most iconic adventures in Big Sky.
For those not feeling up to the hike, who have a fear of heights, or who simply want to join the celebration at the top, we’ll also offer a second departure time with lift tickets available to access the summit. No matter how you get there, we’ll celebrate the birthday girl together at the top of Lone Peak with bubbles, incredible views, and a well-earned après!

We’re wrapping up the hiking season with one final adventure – Mountain to Margaritas! With Ciara out of town, Anne will be leading our last hike of the season as we make our way from YC down into Big Sky for a fun and casual end-of-summer celebration. The route starts at the Yellow Mule Gatehouse and winds down toward Town Center, with beautiful mountain views, changing fall colors, and plenty of time to soak in one last trail day together before snow season returns.
Once we make it to town, we’ll celebrate the season with margs and apps before hopping a shuttle back to YC!
